Motor Lead Wire Construction Selector

Enter the motor your lead wire has to live inside. The selector returns the Jinyou construction that carries the most continuous temperature headroom over that motor’s insulation class limit, and tells you where the limit comes from.

What the headroom number means

The class limit is the thermal class of the motor’s insulation system: 130 °C for B, 155 °C for F, 180 °C for H, 200 °C for N and 220 °C for R, as assigned in IEC 60085:2007 Table 1.
Headroom is the difference between the wire’s published upper temperature and that class limit. A positive number means the wire is rated above the class limit.
A lead wire is not required to match the motor’s class. Industry practice publishes minimum lead wire ratings below the class limit, and IEC 60085 clause 4 forbids reading a system’s class across to a component material. Headroom is a specification decision you make, not a code you satisfy.
Jinyou’s published temperature ranges are −60 to +180 °C for the silicone rubber construction and −40 to +260 °C for the fluoroplastic construction. Ask us before you assume a temperature for the cross-linked polyolefin construction; we do not publish one.
