Australian Standard Solar Cable

Australian Standard Solar Cable to AS/NZS 5000

0.6/1 kV rated voltage

0.5–240 mm² configurations

15–35 day production schedule

Jinyou Cable manufactures Australian Standard Solar Cable for renewable-energy projects whose approved cable schedule calls for an AS/NZS 5000 construction. The label says solar cable, but the project circuit may require a different cable standard; for non-underground PV-array d.c. circuits governed by AS/NZS 5033, send the circuit location first for an H1Z2Z2-K cable and IEC 62930 construction check.

Start with the governing circuit:

  • AS/NZS 5000 cable specified for the circuit
  • PV-array d.c. cable requiring an IEC 62930 check
  • OEM construction, length, packing and document requirements

For a configuration-level review, provide the circuit location, cable size, route length, quantity and destination.

Australian Standard Cable for Project-Specific Circuits

We construct the ordered cable to the governing project specification, not just a product name in a catalogue. Unlike a catalogue-only selection, our order review confirms against the circuit location and separates the conductor, insulation, sheath, electrical rating and packing before manufacturing.

Australian Standard Cable for Project-Specific Circuits

Standard-fit review

We manufacture this cable to AS/NZS 5000. AS/NZS 5000 and IEC 62930 are not interchangeable, so the right call is recorded with the circuit location and exact construction.

OEM configuration

We provide custom OEM cable for renewable-energy equipment and project-specific installation environments. Size, conductor option, compound, marking and packing are settled in the quotation.

Export order preparation

Our Shanghai team prepares cable orders for international project schedules, packing requirements and destination documentation. Jinyou Cable has supplied customers in over 40 countries since its establishment in 2006.

  • Renewable-energy power distribution and equipment interconnection
  • Protected balance-of-system circuits outside the PV-array d.c. string route
  • Solar, energy-storage and electric-vehicle electrical assemblies
  • Single-market or multi-market OEM cable schedules
  • Before installing cable for a solar panel project, define the DC cable route and specify which standard the electrical installations must comply with.
  • PVC and XLPE are insulation compound families, not interchangeable circuit approvals.
  • The review helps ensure industrial buyers order the cable construction named in the project schedule.
Jinyou offers cables and customized electrical supplies for project needs in the renewable-energy industry.

Cable Construction and Material Options

Jinyou combines copper conductor options with PVC insulation and sheath compounds in its published Australian Standard Cable construction. Matching every layer to the ordered 0.5–240 mm² configuration prevents a material or termination mismatch from carrying into production.

Jinyou Cable Construction and Material Structure
  • 1

    Copper conductor

We offer bare copper or tinned copper conductors. The published conductor reference is AS/NZS 1125 Cl.5; conductor construction is confirmed per ordered size.

  • 2

    V-90 insulation

The insulation is V-90 PVC compound. Its colour and core arrangement are fixed with the approved cable schedule.

  • 3

    5V-90 outer sheath

The sheath is 5V-90 PVC compound. The standard sheath colour is black.

  • 4

    Cross-section range

Available nominal cross-sections span 0.5–240 mm²; the selected construction is fixed in the order specification. The range is treated as available configurations, not as one regulatory or certificate family.

Process Control

Sheath, Colour and Order Identification

Jinyou controls outer construction and identification as order fields, so procurement and site teams receive the same specification. A mismatch between the published 5V-90 sheath record and the 0.6/1 kV cable schedule can delay site acceptance.

Order field Published option How it is controlled
Insulation V-90 PVC compound Matched to the approved core construction
Outer sheath 5V-90 PVC compound Fixed in the order specification
Standard sheath colour Black Listed on the cable schedule and packing record
OEM identification Project-specific requirement Wording and format confirmed before production

Identification or colour outside the published construction is quoted only after the requested specification has been reviewed.

Australian Standard Cable Specifications

Use this table to qualify the published range, then send the exact bill of materials for configuration confirmation. A long route can turn a small cross-section into voltage-drop and energy-loss risk, while oversizing can add unnecessary copper and procurement cost.

Buyer approval prompts

  • “The label says solar cable, but the project circuit may require a different cable standard.”
  • “A long route turns a small cross-section into voltage-drop and energy-loss risk.”
  • “Oversizing avoids one concern but can add unnecessary copper and procurement cost.”

The trade-off is copper cost against voltage drop; any size selected without route and load inputs is the wrong choice.

Quality Assurance

Quality Controls for Cable Supply and Installation

Our Shanghai facility uses automated cable machinery and testing systems to control repeat production. A correctly specified cable can still fail at an incorrectly crimped or torqued connector because the cable, connector and tooling work as one system.

Quality Controls for Cable Supply and Installation

Order control sequence

  • Verify the standard of the circuit and the precisely ordered configuration.

    01
  • Lock conductor, cross-section, insulation, sheath, identification and packing.

    02
  • Use the approved electrical test and inspection procedure for the production batch.

    03
  • Release packing and shipping records against the written quotation.

    04

Installation coordination points

  • Department of Energy cable-management guidance shows why the 0.6/1 kV product specification is not a substitute for route protection.
  • Loose roof cable and failed plastic ties expose cable to abrasion and repeated movement.
  • Mis-paired connector or unprotected glands can lead to disconnected wires or entry of dust or water.
  • Pair cable, connector and approved crimp tool as a system.
Installation coordination checks - Lab Equipment
  • Keep connector joints outside recurring movement and unsupported zones.
  • Protect cable from sharp edges, heat, ultraviolet exposure and unsuitable ties.
  • State gland, conduit, support and route conditions in the project method.
  • List any required test report, packing record or destination document in the RFQ so it can be included in the quotation scope.

Australian Standard Solar Cable FAQs

What does AS/NZS 5000 cover?

AS/NZS 5000.1 covers polymeric-insulated single-core and multicore cables up to 0.6/1 (1.2) kV. Special installations or service conditions may be controlled by separate standards.

Can this cable be used for above-ground PV-array d.c. wiring?

Do not approve that circuit from the product name alone. For non-underground PV-array direct-current cable, the project review should check IEC 62930, direct-current suitability, temperature, ultraviolet exposure and mechanical support under the applicable AS/NZS 5033 requirements.

How do I choose between 4 mm² and 6 mm²?

Use design current, route length, permitted voltage drop, ambient temperature and installation method. A larger 6 mm² conductor is not automatically the correct choice for every circuit.

When should I select tinned copper?

Choose bare copper or tinned copper from the project construction and termination requirements. State the conductor option in the RFQ so it can be locked to AS/NZS 1125 Cl.5 and the ordered size.

What temperature range is published?

The stated range is -40°C to +90°C for the published construction. Installation derating and circuit design still follow the project conditions and governing rules.

What packaging is available?

Published formats are 100 m or 200 m rolls and 100 m, 500 m or 1000 m plastic drums. Choose the pack split against site handling and route lengths.

What should I send for a quotation?

Send the circuit location, governing standard, 0.6/1 kV requirement, cross-section, conductor option, total length, pack format, destination and document list. Include current, route and voltage-drop inputs when cable size still needs engineering review.

What are the production and trade terms?

Production is scheduled at 15–35 days. Payment is T/T or L/C at sight, and shipment is FOB or CIF unless another Incoterm is agreed in the quotation.

Can Jinyou supply an OEM cable configuration?

Yes. We review the requested 0.5–240 mm² configuration, construction, marking, packing and project documents before confirming the OEM order.
