Solar & PV Cables | Product Solutions
- Quotation within 24 hours
- Production in 10 to 20 working days
- Three TUV Rheinland certificates published by number
- 0.5 to 240 mm² across the published range
Jinyou Cable is a solar cable manufacturer in Shanghai, building photovoltaic cable for the direct-current side of solar power plants, for grounding and control circuits, and for the alternating-current side downstream of the inverter. Three currently valid TUV Rheinland certificates sit behind that range, and their numbers are printed below so you can check them yourself first.
Cross-section, core configuration, length per colour and destination port are enough for a first quotation.
Solar and PV Cable Manufacturing Range
Solar cable is not one product. Across solar installations, the run from the solar panels to the combiner is the first of four circuits; earthing, control and alternating-current cable follow different standards.
Solar cable, PV wire and photovoltaic cable
- Solar cable, solar photovoltaic cable and photovoltaic cable are European and international usage, under EN 50618 and IEC 62930.
- PV wire and photovoltaic wire are North American usage, under UL 4703 for grounded and ungrounded systems.
Solar PV cable is the same product under another name. The difference is regional, not technical.
Four-Axis Solar Cable Router
Four questions decide which of our ten lines you are asking about.
| Axis | What we need from you | Where it takes you |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Circuit position | Module string, string to combiner, combiner to inverter, earthing, control and monitoring, or inverter to grid | Direct-current string cable, grounding cable, control cable or alternating-current power cable |
| 2. Environment | Rooftop, ground-mount, desert, floating or near-shore water, general industrial | The environment-specific line, or the general line with the exposure conditions written into the enquiry |
| 3. Destination market | European Union, international IEC route, North America, Australia and New Zealand, Japan | The designation your project owner will accept, which is not always the designation you asked for |
| 4. Construction | Single core or twin core, cross-section, core count for control cable, conductor material | The exact product page and the fields we need for a quotation |

Conductor, Insulation and Sheath Systems
A photovoltaic cable is defined by what is around the copper. The international standard requires two cross-linked layers on a single core.
Why a building wire cannot stand in
Ordinary building wire is a different standard family: polyvinyl chloride, or PVC, rated up to 450/750 V for alternating current. It is not sunlight resistant and not rated for a 1.5 kV direct-current array.
Conductor
- Copper to IEC 60228, which sets nominal cross-section and maximum conductor resistance for solar applications.
- Stranded copper to Class 5 at the modules; Class 2 is permitted for fixed installation.
- A continuous tin coating is mandatory under IEC 62930, so tinned copper is a requirement, not an upgrade.
- Aluminium alloy is available on the alternating-current line, where copper content dominates cost.
Insulation and sheath
- Two cross-linked layers, insulation and sheath, which allows use with Class II equipment as defined in IEC 61140.
- Halogen-free low smoke on the European route; IEC 62930 admits halogen-containing constructions too.
- Resistant to sunlight, moisture, ozone and extreme temperature, outdoors for the life of the plant.
Environmental and Installation Duty Classes
The environment changes the construction more than the nameplate voltage does. These are the duty classes we build against.
Construction and Specification Reference
These are the figures our own product pages publish, as printed. Where a field is not published, the table says so rather than filling the gap.
| Property | H1Z2Z2-K line | Australian Standard line | Control cable line |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rated voltage | DC 1500 V | 0.6/1 kV | 450/750 V |
| Cross-section range | 1.5 to 240 mm² on the certified range (AWG 16 to 500 kcmil equivalent) | 0.5 to 240 mm² | 2.5 to 10.0 mm² (AWG 14 to AWG 8 equivalent) |
| Core configuration | Single core and twin core | Single core and twin core | 2 to 61 cores |
| Conductor | Class 5 annealed tin-plated copper, 56 strands at 0.31 mm or finer | Bare or tinned copper | Published on the product page |
| Maximum conductor resistance at 20 °C | 5.09 Ω/km | Published on the product page | Published on the product page |
| Insulation thickness | 0.7 mm nominal, 0.53 mm at the thinnest point | V-90 material | Published on the product page |
| Withstand voltage test | 6.5 kV for 5 minutes, alternating current | 3.5 kV for 5 minutes under water immersion | Published on the product page |
Printed and measured cross-section are not always the same number in this market, and conductor resistance is the field that exposes it.
Standard-to-Jurisdiction Crosswalk
| Route | Standard | Halogen scope | Key figures | What Jinyou holds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| European Union | EN 50618:2014 | Halogen-free only | 1.5 kV DC; 90 °C normal maximum; 120 °C for max 20 000 hours; H1Z2Z2-K; Class 5, 1.5 to 240 mm² | Two certificates, single and twin core, listed below |
| International | IEC 62930:2017 | Halogen-free and halogen-containing both admitted | Up to 1.5 kV DC; 90 °C continuous; Class 5 at the modules, Class 2 for fixed installation | One certificate, halogen-free low smoke, listed below |
| United States and Canada | UL 4703, referenced by Article 690 of the National Electrical Code | Not defined by halogen content | 90 to 150 °C dry, 90 °C wet; 600V, 1000V or 2kV as printed on North American wire; the Code requires listing | Nothing. Jinyou holds no UL 4703 and makes no claim under it. The row exists so you can route a North American project correctly |
| Australia and New Zealand | AS/NZS 5033:2021 clause 4.4.2.1(b) points above-ground array cable to IEC 62930; AS/NZS 5000.1:2005 is separate | Not defined by halogen content | AS/NZS 5000.1 caps at 0.6/1 (1.2) kV. A Tasmanian regulator states compliant array cable carries “62930 IEC” printed on it | Our Australian Standard line is built to AS/NZS 5000.1. It is not an IEC 62930 array cable and we do not present it as one |
| Japan | Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry technical standards, Article 46, with S-JET alongside | Not defined by halogen content | Two criteria documents by voltage class, DC 1500 V and DC 750 V or less; surface marking at one metre or less | Our Japanese Standard line is for DC 1500 V projects. S-JET is voluntary, not compliance with the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Act |
The standards are not interchangeable: the European one admits only halogen-free constructions.
Naming a standard is not holding a certificate against it, and holding one is not acceptance by a project owner.
Quotation, Lead Times and Trade Terms
Commercial terms are published because an enquiry moves faster when both sides know them. Every figure below is a commitment, not a catalogue range.
| Term | What we commit to |
|---|---|
| Quotation turnaround | We respond within 24 hours of receiving your enquiry. |
| Sample lead time | Samples ship in 7 to 15 working days after the specification is agreed. |
| Small batch lead time | Small batches run in 10 to 20 working days. |
| Production lead time | Production orders run in 10 to 20 working days after the specification and drum plan are confirmed, extended when the order covers several cross-sections at once. |
| Minimum order | We set the minimum per cross-section and colour against your bill of materials rather than as a single blanket figure. |
| Samples | Stock lengths are supplied as samples with freight paid by the buyer. Made-to-order samples are charged at production cost and credited against your first order. |
| Payment | 30 percent telegraphic transfer deposit with the 70 percent balance before shipment, or an irrevocable letter of credit at sight. |
| Trade terms | FOB and CIF from a Chinese port as standard. CFR and delivered terms are quoted on request. |
| Documents with the shipment | Certificate of origin, packing list, the factory test report for the shipped lot, and copies of the product certificates. |
| After-sales | We operate a 7 × 24 hour rapid response mechanism for problems encountered in product use and installation. |
What moves the price
Price follows copper content and construction; a twin core costs more than a single core of equal cross-section.
Cable hardware is a small share of installed cost. The labour to install it twice is not.
Packing and drum planning
- We wind to 100 m and 200 m rolls, and to 100 m, 500 m and 1000 m plastic drums.
- We ship on 1.12 × 1.12 × 1.12 m pallets, 20 pallets to a 20-foot container.
- We split the drum plan by colour and cross-section, so send length per colour.
Certificates on File and What Each One Covers
Every supplier here writes “TUV certified”. Almost none writes a number, which means almost none can be checked.
Unbranded imported cables are refused on origin rather than price, because no one can say who made them. The problem is, no one publishes the one thing a buyer could actually check, so buyers end up comparing adjectives.
The first question asked after a field failure is do you have a reference to the manufacturer of the cable? That is answerable only if a holder name is printed somewhere.

How to check these without asking us
To verify the authenticity of a test mark, check its unique ID number in the issuer’s own database. Do not use a link a supplier sends you, ours included.
- Type Approved and Safety record that the product met the test criteria. Regular Production Surveillance means the line is inspected at intervals, not that one sample passed.
- All three were checked in the issuer’s database on 2 September 2026, where the holder name and Shanghai address match.
- The register prints holder, model, test mark ID and certificate number, but not the standard. That column comes from the certificate documents, so open the certificate and read its scope.
Three-Level Evidence Ladder
Most enquiries flatten certification into one word. It is three things, and mixing them is how a project ends up with cable that is certified and yet still rejected on site.
A standard named in your specification
Your tender says EN 50618 or IEC 62930. That is a design target, and says nothing about what the supplier has had tested.
A certificate held by the manufacturer, with a number
A certificate binds one holder, one model designation and one scope to one standard. The most expensive document in procurement is not a forged certificate but a genuine one covering a different model.
Acceptance by the authority over your project
Decided by your project owner, the certification body and your regulator. It is the one level we cannot supply.
Production control
Conductor and material procurement
We test conductor purity and resistivity, and run physical and chemical analysis on the temperature resistance, ageing resistance and mechanical strength of insulation and sheath materials.
Supplier qualification
We verify the qualification certificates of raw material suppliers and the environmental compliance certificates.
Solar Cable Order Process, Enquiry to Shipment
Six steps, and the first carries most of the risk. An enquiry that arrives with the circuit and route described is quoted once rather than three times.
-
01
You send the circuit, cross-section, core configuration, length per colour and destination port.
-
02
Engineers review the construction against your circuit and confirm which line answers it.
-
03
We respond within 24 hours with a specification and a price.
-
04
Samples ship in 7 to 15 working days once the specification is agreed.
-
05
Production runs in 10 to 20 working days after the specification and drum plan are confirmed.
-
06
We ship with the certificate of origin, packing list, factory test report for the lot and product certificates.
The fields that most often add a round
- System voltage, and whether direct or alternating current
- Continuous current per run, and run length
- Free air, tray, conduit, bundled or buried
- Connector family and cable outer diameter
What we will not calculate for you
No cable size recommendation, ampacity figure or voltage-drop result is published here, because none can be right without your route. Field records show the failure rate rising with how much of the termination is made on site.
Connectors
We manufacture cable and do not certify a connector pairing. We give the outer diameter the gland must seal against; qualifying the pairing sits with your connector supplier.

Where a Different Cable Is the Right Answer
Four situations where this range is not what you need. Each is a trade-off we would rather state than let you find after the deposit.
A North American project that requires listing
If your specification calls for listed photovoltaic wire under the National Electrical Code, our certificates do not answer it.
You want a service-life figure in years
No such figure appears here. The durability criterion in EN 50618:2014 is a temperature index at 50 percent elongation at break after 20 000 hours, a material property rather than a promise of years.
You are comparing datasheet ampere figures across standards
Do not. The EN 50618 and IEC 62930 current tables use different conductor and ambient temperatures, so a cross-section reads differently on each. Ask what the higher figure buys you at the temperature your route actually sees; where to look instead is the conditions row, not the ampere column.
You need the connection qualified, not the cable
Most recorded direct-current failures in operating plants are at the connection, not in the cable run. That work sits with your connector supplier and installer.
